Welcome. My name is Charlotte (like the spider).
I live in Southern California with my husband Tim in our relatively empty nest. I enjoy hiking in the local foothills, as well as downward dogging with my so-called hunting dog. I received a B.A. from Rice University and a J.D. from UCLA.
My writing explores the intersections of grief, parenting, and self-care, particularly within the context of suicide. I write about loss, resilience, and hope. My work has been highlighted in The New York Times (Modern Love and Tiny Love Stories), Hippocampus, and CNN, and I have been featured on the BBC, as well as NPR’s Airtalk with Larry Mantle. My memoir, Sushi Tuesdays, has been spotlighted on The Satellite Sisters podcast, the Lori & Julia Bookclub, and Zibby Owen’s podcast, Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books.
I am also passionate about helping others write about their own experiences. Our writing makes a difference. Memoir requires both a willingness to be vulnerable and an understanding of the principles of storytelling. I hold a safe space for each client's personal story while guiding the writer in the craft of narrative nonfiction.
So pull up a cozy chair and grab a cup of tea. We’ll chat about what grief and family and love look like in real life. We’ll laugh and cry. I’ve got tissues if you need them. I’m happy you’re here.
