CHARLOTTE MAYA
hello@charlotte-maya.com
I write about suicide loss, resilience and hope. My writing explores the intersections of grief, parenting and self-care, particularly within the context of suicide. My work has been highlighted in The New York Times (Modern Love and Tiny Love Stories), Hippocampus, and The Mighty, and I have been featured on the BBC, as well as NPR’s Airtalk with Larry Mantle, the Lori & Julia Bookclub, and Zibby Owen’s podcast, Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books. My full-length memoir on my family's journey following the suicide of my first husband is now available wherever books are sold.
I live in Southern California with my husband Tim in our relatively empty nest. We enjoy hiking in the local foothills, as well as downward dogging with our so-called hunting dog. I received my B.A. from Rice University and my J.D. from UCLA.
NEWSLETTER SIGN-UP
Bring a mug of hot tea or a glass of something sparkly and sassy, and we’ll chat about love and related hazards. We will explore the legacy of suicide with honest emotions, hard truths, and the healing momentum of dogs. In lieu of flowers, we will be kind. Sign up.

BOOK COACHING
I am an Author Accelerator certified book coach. Memoir requires both a willingness to be vulnerable and an understanding of the principles of storytelling. I hold a safe space for each client's personal story while guiding the writer in the craft of narrative nonfiction. I am currently coaching individuals on their full-length memoirs. For more information, or to be added to my waitlist, please email me directly.
